Adelle Claire Hammond

18 Jul

We welcome Adelle Claire Hammond, who joined our Auckland studio earlier this month.  Adelle is an architectural graduate with an already impressive track record having worked on some exciting commercial and residential projects in Auckland and New Zealand.

“The opportunity to work at Isthmus was one I was very keen on pursuing.  It is the perfect fit that brings my passion for landscape and architecture together.”

 Adelle completed her Master of Architecture in 2009 at the University of Auckland.  Her thesis project answered the question “How can architecture integrate with the rhythms of nature to create an acute awareness of the sense of self”.  This was achieved through her (A grade) design at Auckland’s Wynyard Point.

She has travelled in Italy, Cuba, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands and in 2012, spent a year living in France.

Our studios are places of creative production, and they are essentially a combination of three things:

1. the physical space,

2. the people who work in the space, and

3. the work we produce.

Out of the Box is an isthmus studio philosophy about getting our work off the server and into the studio. It’s about making the work visible for others to see, and therefore easier to share. Sharing makes the work more real and our design process more open. This goes not just for finished work, but for work in progress;

Why use a Google docs spreadsheet when you can make the same information visible to your whole team on a project whiteboard? You can access it, update it and collaboratively edit it, all in real-time!

Wall real estate for pinning-up in Auckland has been scarce, but we new have new Vertiface® wall coverings on studio walls and the back meeting room. This facilitates more design crits, project charettes, client workshops, design reviews and brown-bag sessions that get the projects out of the box and bring together all three aspects of the studio; the space, the people and the work.
